Pinches Group is looking for an experienced and dedicated Chemical Engineer to lead research, development and commercialisation in our industrial drying technology.
With over 75 years of industry experience, Pinches Group is a leading supplier of meat processing and industrial drying technology throughout Australia and New Zealand, and a leader in the commercialisation of Super-Heated Steam Drying Technology internationally.
The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing development of two primary technologies:
- Super-Heated-Steam (Airless) Drying
- Double-Effect Disc Drying
Pinches Group is one of the pioneering developers of SHS Drying Technology internationally, with plants operating in the USA, Belgium and New Zealand.
In addition to SHS, Pinches (in collaboration with Monash University) is in the early stages of developing an exciting new industrial drying technology.
Developed by renowned Chemical Engineer, Dr Dilip Desai, the technology, known as a “Double-Effect Disc Dryer” presents a significant opportunity to advance commercial drying technology. The technology is a re-imagining of traditional Disc Dryers, used throughout the world in a range of industrial drying industries, including meat processing, sludge drying and ethanol production.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the R&D program
- Reviewing and improving design and engineering across both technologies
- Overseeing the running of the DED pilot plant (already in operation)
- Reviewing research papers and test data
- Facilitating and managing grant funding
- Liaising with Monash University and other industry professionals
- Reporting to Pinches Group senior management
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Experience in industrial drying/processing technologies
