About the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS): is a leading global force in medical, health sciences, and biomedical education and research in Australia. About the Role
The Chief of Staff (CoS) at the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Medicine is a senior professional role, reporting directly to the Dean. The CoS will serve as a trusted advisor and manager, with the skills to efficiently manage the Office of the Dean, and the Dean's schedule.
This role is a primary point of contact between the Dean and internal/external stakeholders and will act as a “traffic controller”, proactively managing time utilisation, information flow, and supporting decision making and issue resolution in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, think strategically, have an unwavering attention to detail, impeccable organisation skills and be able to draft written documentation on behalf of the Dean. The CoS will also be able to interact with all levels of the faculty and university. A high level of discretion and confidentiality is required.

About You
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strategic mindset, exceptional communication, organizational prowess, and leadership acumen to effectively support the Dean's objectives and drive faculty success.
Qualifications should include relevant operational leadership experience (ideally from another Chief of Staff style role), a strong track record in managing Executive/C-suite offices, and demonstrated expertise in planning, strategic development, and problem-solving.)
Candidates should possess strong leadership and management skills, the ability to foster a high-performance work environment, and proficiency in collaboration tools. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with interpersonal finesse, are crucial for preparing high-quality briefings, and dealing with senior stakeholders and staff on behalf of the Dean.
The ideal candidate should exhibit initiative, sound judgment, and the capacity to operate with professional autonomy and integrity.
