Role Overview – Chief Surveyor
We are seeking an experienced Chief Surveyor to join our team at the Porgera Mine operations. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Chief Surveyor will lead the surveying function, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of survey requirements for both open pit and underground mining activities, as well as surface facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the application and monitoring of mine surveying systems to meet production targets within specified standards and timeframes.
- Produce end-of-month survey data, measurements, and volumes for reporting purposes.
- Ensure accurate mapping of mining areas, surface excavations, ore stockpiles, and waste dumps to produce as-built surveys.
- Ensure compliance with PNG Mining (Safety) Act and Regulations.
- Monitor surveying systems performance and formulate improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage survey equipment maintenance and supply of consumables with cost controls.
- Drive business improvement projects relevant to surveying function.
- Develop and maintain safe work procedures, promoting high safety and health awareness.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the surveying team.
- Foster effective communication with stakeholders and delegate prior to departure from the site.
- Assist in the development and improvement of Mine Survey and Mine Engineering Systems.
- Provide high-level skills, guidance, and training on mine survey software.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Mining Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in both Open Cut and Underground, with 5 years in a Chief Surveyor role or similar.
- Proficiency with Deswik

- Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
