What you'll be doing
Whole Family Team (WFT) provides specialist interventions that work towards the recovery and ongoing safety and wellbeing of families and their children involved with the child protection system.

The Child and Family Health Nurse (CNS2) - Whole Family Team is responsible for delivering complex specialist nursing care and leadership of specialist clinical practice in relation to health screening, assessment, advice and care coordination for families with children and young people accessing the service.

Families are referred into the program where Risk of Significant Harm (ROSH) has been identified due to the presence of parental mental health and/or drug and alcohol. Family members may also be experiencing Violence Abuse or Neglect such as Domestic Violence.

Family Clinicians, supported and mentored by the Clinical Leads Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol, Psychiatrist and Addiction Specialist, provide a range of treatment interventions delivered in the home and community. The CFH nurse compliments the care provided to families by providing leadership and quality care for children who have experienced the developmental impacts of trauma, abuse or neglect.

Families receive comprehensive care in close collaboration with Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) as well as other health services, relevant government and non-government agencies. There is a focus on strengthening parenting capacity so children can safely remain with their family.

They work closely with their colleagues and leadership within VAN Services and more broadly across the health service to facilitate recovery, integrated and trauma informed care that is holistic and seamless. Targeted training and development is provided to support the team to be innovative, culturally safe and evidence based to develop and deliver effective and sound interventions that operationalise the NSW Health Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) Framework , Service Standards and relevant Policy and Procedures.
