Elermore Vale Early Learning Centre is a long-standing community based, not for profit centre. We are a 39-place long day care centre, caring for children for over 35 years. We have two rooms catering for 0 - 2 and 3 – 5-year-old children.
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Centre Cook to join our team. As the Cook, you will work collaboratively with our leadership team to be responsible for the health and wellbeing of the children at the Centre. You will assist in the planning and the preparation of appealing and nutritious meals and snacks whilst maintaining a well organised routine of hygienic food preparation, storage and cleaning. We offer a 4-week rotating menu that caters for children aged 0-5 Years. This is a permanent, part time position and ideal for someone looking for school hours.
The successful applicant must have a valid Working with Children Check number. Basic food safety handling certification is preferable but not essential, applicants must be willing to undertake this training.
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES OF THIS ROLE:
- Previous experience in food preparation for large numbers.
- Ability to work independently to prepare morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children aged 0-5 years.
- Excellent time management skills needed.
- Commitment to maintain a high standard of food handling safety & hygiene practices.
- This role requires someone with sound knowledge and understanding of what would be required when planning and preparing separate meals for children with food allergies/intolerance and religious/cultural requirements.
- Proven ability to comply with NSW Safe Food and Health/ Hygiene Practices in the preparation, serving and storing of meals.
- Completing of the appropriate checks required.
