Silky Oaks Childcare Centre is a not-for-profit community based centre providing programs for children from birth to five years. As a long day care centre, we offer a Kindergarten program, large outdoor play areas, high worker-to-child ratios, and individualised educational programs for all age groups.
The Centre is located in Manly West, Queensland and operates Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm.
Available Positions
We are seeking experienced Lead and Assistant Educators to fill full-time, part-time and casual roles.
- The purpose of offering multiple roles is to attract Educators who are looking for a fresh season in a community focused organisation which values children, families and our workers.
- Hourly rates offered within this advertisement are broad to cover Assistant to Lead Educator roles (Level 3.1 to 4.3), in both permanent and casual employment. Remuneration is negotiable based upon proven experience, skill, qualification/s, attitude and organisational value alignment.
- This role will report to the Director and Assistant Director of the service.

Lead Educator requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working as a Lead Educator within a Childcare Centre in Australia.
- Experience working across various age groups (0-5yrs old), with the capacity to lead and empower other Educators.
- Possess or studying a Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care or equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Good programming and child development documentation skills that complies with the requirements of the National Quality Framework.
Assistant Educator requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working as an Assistant Educator within a Childcare Centre in Australia.
- Possess or studying a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education & Care or equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Understanding and ability to contribute to child development documentation that complies with the requirements of the National Quality Framework.
Additional role requirements:
- A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- Australian Working Rights.
- Flexibility to work multiple days and start/finish times across the week, as the service operates between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
- Valid First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certification.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional presentation.
- A team orientated approach with the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders of the service.
- The ability to take initiative and uphold a positive attitude.
- Availability to attend to all staff training events, if/when applicable (currently our staff meetings are held monthly after hours, and are paid).
- Exceptional computer literacy skills, experience using Qikkids/Xplor and Microsoft 365 would be highly advantageous.
