Key Responsibilities and Duties of the position
The key responsibilities and duties of the CCS Childcare Officer include:
• coordinating bookings and admissions for childcare
• supervising and providing activities for children while they are in the childcare room
• maintaining the toys, supplies and equipment in the childcare room
• communicating with clinical staff working with children, and
• performing a range of CCS administrative duties, such as: undertaking reception duties; updating case records; documenting safety plans; making interpreter bookings; scanning and filing documents. .
Formal Qualifications
The Childcare Officer must have:
• a Diploma of Childcare or equivalent,
• a current First Aid Certificate, and
• a clearance for working with children as required within the relevant State/Territory scheme
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in providing a secure and supportive environment for children and an ability to meet the needs of individual children in special circumstances.
2. A demonstrated commitment to the provision of quality services to children and families.
3. Well-developed communication skills including the ability to actively listen, clarify and understand client needs and to respond appropriately to these needs. Be able to exercise tact and discretion, act impartially and maintain confidentiality at all times.
4. Demonstrated working knowledge or clearly demonstrated capability to quickly acquire a sound working knowledge of court procedures, guidelines, policies and practice, including the IT systems used by the Court.
5. Demonstrated effective organisational skills including the ability to manage several processes at once, attention to detail, strong time management skills, and apply planning skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a geographically dispersed team as directed, and the ability to participate in collective work practices.
