Toybox Community Child Care Centre is a not for profit organisation, operating for over 30 years in regional South Australia. Toybox is licensed to care for 80 children daily and operates 50 weeks of the year.
Our Centre requires a Chef/Cook to implement our exciting menu for children attending our service. A clear understanding of allergies when preparing age appropriate food for children aged 0-5 is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and provide nutritionally balanced and appropriate meals for all children, taking into consideration their individual dietary requirements and allergies
- Work with Nutrition Australia’s guidelines for healthy eating
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to in the kitchen, including food preparation and servicing areas as specified in the National Quality Standards 2.1 and 2.2
- Prepare and serve meals in a timely manner within Centre routines.
- Regular ordering, maintaining food and kitchen supplies and adhering to budgetary requirements.
- General daily cleaning and sanitary requirements.
- To liaise with staff teams to incorporate children's events.
- Work autonomously within the demands of the role.
Required attributes and qualifications:
- Food safety level 1- Food handling, or equivalent.
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Knowledge of relevant food handling legislation.
- Working with Children Check (Child-related screening).
- Current first aid certificate (HLTAID004).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in partnership with families and educators.
- Be an active team player who has strong initiative & a capacity to work with minimal supervision.
