Apprenticeship Careers Australia has a great opportunity for a candidate looking to kick start their career in an apprenticeship as a Civil Plant Operator. This position is based at a reputable company in Port Kembla that is a major supplier of materials within the industry.
The successful candidate will work on-site with a team of qualified tradespeople and learn the necessary skills of plant operations, machinery operations and other skills in the industry.
This is an ENTRY LEVEL POSITION - 1ST YEAR APPRENTICE
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
We want a candidate that has a genuine interest in Plant Operations and the overall industry of Civil Construction. The candidate must have great understanding of computer literacy, must be mechanically minded, be a hard-worker that loves being hands-on, has great skills in communication and works well within a team environment.
Most of all the candidate must be willing to undertake formal training in a Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations - RII30820.
APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION
This apprenticeship has a duration of 36-months. During this apprenticeship you will work full-time (38 hours per week), Monday - Friday. You will work on-site gaining real experience in the industry and learning all practical areas of the trade.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE
- Operating bobcat (clean up any spillages)
- Operating a front-end loader (different types and sizes) - used for feeding hoppers, pushing up material, loading up trucks
- Operating excavators (different size excavators) - picking metal out of material, organising sizes of material, digging trenches
- Operating dump trucks - emptying bins and moving material to different locations
- Driving the water cart wetting the roads (if you have HR licence)
- Operating other machines such as Dozer, Grater, Haul max
- General clean up - shovelling spillages, hosing chutes, Jack hammering build up
