Statewide Apprenticeships is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has been servicing the employment and training needs of South Australian apprentices and trainees, as well as businesses and industries, for over 30 years.
The Traineeship
Statewide Apprenticeships is currently seeking a trainee to join our team, working on projects throughout the City of Victor Harbor Council.
We are looking for a year 10 student who is interested in a school-based traineeship. The position is a permanent part-time role, working one day a week over a period of 2-3 years while the candidate is still attending school. The traineeship is specifically designed for students who wish to gain work experience and learn practical skills in the Civil Construction industry.
YOU MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN SCHOOL TO APPLY FOR THIS TRAINEESHIP!
Duties may include:
• Carry out measurements and calculations.
• Read and interpret plans and job specifications and communicate with the team.
• Carry out manual excavations and operate small plant equipment.
• Identify and locate underground services.
• Safely dispose of nontoxic materials.
• Conduct roller operations and spread and compact materials manually.
• General physical labour
• Day-to-day operations
About you
• Have a genuine passion for Civil Construction
• Be committed to undertaking an 18–24-month traineeship.
• Must be willing to undertake hearing and drug and alcohol testing.
• Be willing to obtain a traffic management course before or during at your own expense.
• White Card training at the trainee’s expense
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Reliable & hardworking
• Have a genuine passion for civil construction.
