The Role
The Civil Trades Assistant/Operator will work across a national portfolio of projects and is responsible for a range of duties including specialist civil construction works such as piling, tying and setting steel, site establishment, site preparation, heavy vehicle and equipment operations.
Civil component of the projects include:
- Bulk earth works
- Hard stands and foundations
- Drainage & Trenching
- Access Roads
About You
You have civil construction experience in energy or construction industries such as Transmission Towers, Substations or sky rises.
- Ability to operate independently and autonomously to ensure all work is performed to meet safety, environmental and legal responsibilities in accordance with required scope of works and client expectations.
- Effective planning and execution of required activities to project requirements.
- Operation of vehicles, equipment and tools (e.g. cranes, trucks, forklifts etc.) in a safe and appropriate to project requirements consistent with competencies held and/or being acquired.
- Stocktake, packing and transport organisation of project materials to and from project locations.
- Store equipment and materials in an organised, logical manner that achieves safety standards and promotes efficient operations.
- Assessment of material deliveries compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
- Initiate purchase orders for the supply of equipment and materials in accordance with applicable purchasing policies and procedures.
- Ensure protective safety equipment and other test equipment is inspected or tested to certify its ongoing compliance to regulatory or other applicable standards, and maintain compliance records. Identify and eliminate hazards and potentially dangerous situations.
- Perform incidental and peripheral work, including site visits to prepare for jobs, and exercise a range of clerical skills in the provision of services.
- Interpret scopes of work, maintain accurate records of work and provide updates on progress of job activities.
- Ensure completion of on site risk assessments and implement control measures in line with employee’s level of skill and training.
- Discuss and agree tasks at the worksite to complete jobs in an efficient and effective manner, having regard to legislative and corporate requirements as well as customer expectations.
- Safely use and maintain Yurika vehicles/plant, tools/equipment and hazardous substances.
Essentials
- C Class drivers licence.
- Skid Steer License
- Excavator License
Desirable
- Cert 3 in Carpentry, Steel Work or Concreting
- Riggers License (basic/intermediate/advances)
- Dogging License
- HC Driver’s Licence or the ability to acquire that licence.
- Forklift Operator’s Licence or the ability to acquire that licence.
- C2 or C6 Operator’s Licence
