Role Summary

The Claims Handler, Accident and Health is responsible for managing claims across the Accident and Health portfolio including corporate travel and personal accident claims.

This is a permanent full time role, based in Melbourne, reporting to the First Party Claims Manager.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

• Manage end to end case load of accident and health claims within specified financial authority limits.
• Apply legal principles relevant to both coverage and liability considerations to all A&H claims.
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Provide wording recommendations to the product team as appropriate with the support of the Senior Claims Handlers and Claims Manager.
• Provide support and operational assistance to wider claims team including claims payments, reconciliations, claims histories and file audits.

Role Requirements & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Accident & Health claims role, including managing personal accident, workers compensation and travel claims.
• Good working knowledge of Insurance Contracts Act and regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to claims handling.
• Analytical skills and good attention to detail.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Tertiary / Relevant professional qualification (ANZIIF, ALUCA etc).

Working Conditions

• Standard office environment
• Travel, including interstate: estimate 10%-15%.
