Delivery Manager, you are a leader within one or more software development teams, responsible for helping your teams to be more productive. You do this through;Management, coordination and facilitation of the team's current operational workload, including:
- Managing risks
- Proactively identifying and removing obstacles to progress
- Facilitating communication within and between teams
- Contributing to the team's strategic roadmap, and then ensuring the team's activities align with it
- Influencing the team to maintain their focus on the highest priority work
Investigating, identifying and implementing changes to improve the systems, processes and tools employed by the team to deliver their work, including root cause analysis and evidence-based investigation into identified pain points and impediments to productivity, and managing bottlenecks within teams by applying the 5-FOCUSsing steps, specifically:
- Finding the bottleneck
- Optimizing the distribution of work to ensure maximum throughput at the bottleneck
- Collaborating, Coordinating and Curating work in progress to ensure smooth flow of work for the bottleneck and to ensure the team does not have an excessive build-up of work in progress
- Upgrading the constraint by adding additional resources or capacity, and starting again
- Contributing to defining, improving and implementing a standardized set of key practices within teams to ensure the entire organization can benefit from established best-practice.
