Primary DetailsTime Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeClaims Officer – ConstructionLocation: Docklands, VICType: Permanent, full-time hoursThe OpportunityAn opportunity for a Claims Officer with Liability and Construction Claims experience.Your New RoleQBE Insurance currently have an opportunity to join the business in the role of Claims Officer within the Construction / Material Damage & Liability space. This role is pivotal to the team’s success, proactively supporting our claim’s philosophy and strategy, managing end to end property, public liability and material damage, and acting within legislative requirements to support the unit in achieving its targeted objectives.The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:Efficient management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims.Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed.Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public.Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards.Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties.Self-audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits.Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within privacy guidelines.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:12+ months of multi-jurisdictional public liability and construction (specifically material damage / section 1 & A) claims experience.2+ years of multi-jurisdictional first party property claims experience.Sound technical understanding and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage (including construction, material damage / section 1 & A) and product liability claims.Proven ability to self-assess public liability and construction claims when required, ranging from first notification of loss to end-to-end resolution. Understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified portfolio and a proven ability to understand and interpret relevant policy wordings.Ability to engage, instruct and work with relevant providers including loss adjusters, lawyers, and consultants.An understanding of, and demonstrable application of, the General Insurance Code of Practice.Ability to build and maintain strong client/customer relationships. Good problem-solving skills and ability to interpret technical / investigation reports to make sound business decisions.Ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution, including mediations and arbitrations.Ability to participate in and actively manage the process of litigated multi-jurisdictional public liability and construction (specifically material damage / section 1 & A) claims.
