City of Mount Gambier has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven individual to join the Operations Infrastructure team.
About the position:
• Part-Time Permanent
• 10-37.5 Hours Per Week

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of various public amenities throughout the City of Mount Gambier. As a Cleaner – Building and Asset Maintenance, you will also be responsible for ensuring the pristine appearance of key facilities, including Council’s Civic Centre, Library, Visitor Information Centre, Blue Lake Welcome Centre, Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre, Public Amenities, Council Depot, Carinya Gardens and other Council buildings from time to time.
The Cleaner – Building and Asset Maintenance will generally, but not exclusively, work within the Building and Asset Maintenance Team of Council.
This position is classified at Grade 3 Year 1 – Grade 3 Year 3 (currently $33.57 - $34.34 per hour) of the City of Mount Gambier AWU Enterprise Agreement No.12 2022.
About you:
• Cleaning Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in various cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment used in commercial settings.
• Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to cleaning tasks, ensuring all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained to high standards.
• Time Management: Efficiently plan and execute cleaning schedules, meeting deadlines and adhering to established timelines.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and visitors, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Ability to work as a member of a team (varying in size and composition) and to work under minimal supervision.
• Capacity to perform physical tasks for prolonged periods of time including but not restricted to walking, vacuuming, mopping, lifting, painting, within relevant WHS guidelines and standards.
• Understanding of continuous improvement principles to ensure increase efficiency and productivity of operations.
• Experience in applying the principles of risk management and work health safety principles within an operational environment.
