Appointment Pool
Rivergums Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners In Charge for appointments to permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise in the 2024 school year up until the end of Term 4, 2024. Appointments can be made from Term 2 2024.
As a Cleaner In Charge you would be responsible for carrying out internal and external cleaning duties which will include window cleaning, dusting and removal of cobwebs. You will communicate with the Cleaner-In-Charge and follow directions to complete other cleaning duties as instructed. Suitable applicants will ideally have good attention to detail and would be able to work well with others to ensure a clean and safe school environment. You should be organised, reliable and punctual, work well both individually and as part of a team and ideally have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.
Rivergums PS opened in 2016 and offers positive and challenging learning programs that encourage all students to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and values to become successful, confident and creative individuals.
The school is an Independent Public School for Kindergarten to Year 6 students. The community has helped shape the direction of the school and ensures that students' needs are a priority.
Rivergums PS has modern, state of the art facilities and is located next to Baldivis Secondary College, giving students access to a seamless transition into secondary school.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to read and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, use cleaning equipment including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and work as a member of a team.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
