Your Role:
The duties of a cleaner may include a mix of any activities listed below. This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake other activities relevant to the nature and classification level of a cleaner.
- Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
- Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- Cobweb and mildew control, utilising extendable equipment as necessary.
- Cleaning of concrete, bitumen, asphalt and paved surfaces.
- Disposal of rubbish and litter control including removal of material from drains and gutters between and/or surrounding buildings.
- Dusting including student and office furniture, equipment and fans.
- Removal of graffiti.
- Sweeping and vacuuming.
- Vinyl/timber floor maintenance including buffing, stripping and polishing.
- Other appropriate cleaning duties as directed by the Principal/Business Manager.
- Reporting security, safety, damage concerns to the Business Manager
- Activating and disarming school security systems as required
- Locking and unlocking buildings.
The following skills and attributes for the position:
- A team member with the ability to perform under direction, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work demands and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge, of departmental cleaning policies, practices and procedures used in schools.
- Applicant must hold a current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Be legally able to work in Australia (you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or you hold a valid visa with permission to work. Evidence of Proof of Work Eligibility is required
- Successfully undergo a Criminal History Check
- A Certificate III in Cleaning Operations would be an advantage but not a necessity
- Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history).
