A unique opportunity exists for a full-time Project Manager based in Perth to work on multiple and varied construction projects from inception through to completion.  Projects under management range in value from $10k to $150M and include major commercial and mixed-use developments, aged care developments, projects in the education sector, industrial and retail projects, office fitout, hotels, high rise residential and more. 

As a Client Side Project Manager you will have exceptional communication skills, be a strategic thinker and natural leader.

You must be able to work independently on a number of projects at any one time.  You will be responsible for leading projects and will be required to assist the Project Director and others within the TPM team. As a member of a team of Project Managers your flexibility to assist as and when required is essential.

The Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage all phases of the project to ensure that the client's objectives are met. 
  • Ensure a Project Management Plan has been prepared for the effective delivery of all projects.
  • Manage the appointment of consultants on behalf of clients in conjunction with the staff allocated to the project.
  • Oversee the administration of consultant contracts. 
  • Prepare and monitor forecasts, initiate corrective action where required.
  • Assist in the preparation of programs for the design, construction, and general delivery of projects. 
  • Advise clients on the most appropriate option for the design and the construction of their project and provide concise reports to Clients. 
  • Manage documentation for the selection of contractors, in liaison with the Client. 
  • Administer or oversee the administration of construction contracts. 
  • Manage the handover of the works including defect rectification and operational training where appropriate. 
  • Conduct meetings as required for the effective delivery of projects. 
  • Provide reports that are concise and address the issues that are relevant to recipient. 
  • Provide leadership to the internal and external project team to effectively deliver projects. 

Through this process you will need to liaise with the client and project stakeholders and effectively report progress.  You will generally chair project meetings and record notes for distribution to team members.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • have experience within similar Client-Side Project Management role within the construction industry, or similar. 
  • have the ability to thrive in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
  • have strong technical ability to lead and manage complex projects and programs as the key client interface.
  • have a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • be tertiary qualified preferably in construction management, engineering or a building related degree
  • demonstrate sound knowledge of contract application and administration
  • be well presented and have a positive / proactive attitude. 
  • have worked a minimum of 3 – 5 years in the construction industry.
  • be comfortable working in a medium size team environment, committed to the team effort, whilst motivated to work autonomously when required.
  • have strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a team; and most importantly
  • be highly motivated and driven with a passion for delivering the best possible outcomes for your clients.
