About the Opportunity
Bowral Hospital, located in the stunning Southern Highlands is seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and organised individual to join the team as a Clinical Coder.
You will be working in a small rural hospital where you can make a real difference with your skills. Your understanding of relevant policy and legislation will assist you in ensuring compliance within the role. You will be highly organised and be well versed in ensuring others remain organised also. You will understand the importance or accuracy and timeliness of information and have attention to detail at the forefront of your role.
We are seeking an experienced administrator who is adaptable to change and works well with a range of technological suites and programs. Your outgoing and friendly nature will assist you in becoming part of a dedicated and community focused team who thrive on improving health outcomes in the local community.
What You'll be Doing
The position is responsible for the timely and accurate coding of patient's episodes of care. Flexible work arrangements can be discussed.

The Southern Highlands of NSW is made up of 34 towns and villages, providing both a rural yet cosmopolitan lifestyle of cafes, restaurants and wineries, offering a diverse range of industry, sports, arts and culture, affordable housing, excellent schools, all less than 1.5 hours travel to Sydney, Canberra and the coast
Bowral & District Hospital is part of the South West Sydney Local Health District with strong and established networks to tertiary facilities of Campbelltown and Liverpool.
Bowral & District Hospital is a level 3 acute bed facility which provides a wide range of services including 24 hour Emergency Department, 2 x Operating Theatres plus a Procedures room, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Critical and Coronary Care, Maternity & Paediatrics.
The Hospital has established an excellent reputation in the community for its commitment to safe, quality patient care.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM coding course (ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS) or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management (with a clinical coding component).
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical coding using ICD-10-AM/ACHI classification with knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards, medical terminology and experience in using the 3M Codefinder.
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of the DRG allocation process.
  • Demonstrated experience using Patient Administration Systems, eMR and other electronic medical record systems.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet required deadlines.
  • Demonstrated excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of privacy and confidentiality.
