About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Clinical CodingAuditor Educator / Clinical Documentation Specialist within the Coding Service.
The Clinical Coding Auditor / Educator is responsible for providing audit of Clinical Documentation, ICD code assignment and application of coding standards. In this role you will share learnings from audits, training and education for coding staff to ensure an accurate and comprehensive casemix profile and optimisation of Casemix revenue.
As a Clinical Coding Auditor / Educator you will provide clinicians and other relevant hospital staff with education on documentation and Casemix systems. In addition, you will conduct a regular cycle of random and targeted audits to ensure the quality and integrity of administrative data collected resulting in accurate coding, optimisation of Casemix revenue, comprehensive APC data submissions and to identify education requirements for Clinical Coders, clinicians and administrative staff.
The Clinical Documentation Specialist facilitates Clinical Documentation improvement support for clinicians across NALHN. Participation in ward rounds, Grand Rounds, Divisional and other meeting forums will be part of the educational component of this role. In this role you will lead the creation and promulgation of documenting considerations in the patient medical record, to enhance the safety and quality care of the patient, record complications of care and co-morbidities influencing the Casemix complexity of patient activity.
Demonstrating patient complexity allows for accurate service planning and enhanced data for research and abstraction purposes for Clinical Coding. In this role you will be an expert key contact for the Clinical Coding Staff for clinical queries and knowledge in the language of Clinical Documentation, this role will support and advise clinicians in their recording of clinical care to support appropriate reimbursement in the level of service rendered to selected inpatients at NALHN.
To be eligible for this position, you must have satisfactory completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) coding Course, together with demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding.
