Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (Justice Health NSW) provides healthcare across secure inpatient, custodial, court and community settings. We deliver healthcare services to adults and young people who come into contact with, or who are at risk of coming into contact with, the criminal justice system. Each year, Justice Health NSW staff care for more than 30,000 patients through dedicated in-person and virtual multidisciplinary teams. Our healthcare services include primary, Mental Health and specialty care services. This includes screening, acute and chronic care, as well as preventative health services to those identified with a health need.

About Forensic Mental Health

The Forensic Mental Health directorate provides comprehensive Mental Health care via the following services and facilities: The Forensic Hospital; Custodial Mental Health; Long Bay Hospital; Statewide Community and Court Liaison Service; Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Team; Community Forensic Mental Health Service; the Freshwater Unit and ambulatory Mental Health services within correctional and detention centres.  The Directorate also works closely with Local Health Districts to provide a range of integrated services to divert people away from custody and into community-based care, where appropriate, and to ensure continuity of care for patients transitioning back into the community.
 
The Role
The newly restructured role of Clinical DirectorForensic Mental Health reports to the Chief Executive, Wendy Hoey, and provides clinical leadership for our state-wide Forensic Mental Health services. This includes supporting care coordination and the development and implementation of models of care in Justice Health NSW and across the NSW Forensic Mental Health system. The role is responsible for clinical standards in Forensic Mental Health care and contributes to the strategic development and commissioning of Forensic Mental Health services. Working in partnership with the General Manager Forensic Mental Health, the person will lead the strategic coordination and management of workforce issues that impact clinical care and patient outcomes. This role leads a team of Forensic Mental HealthClinical Directors focused on the provision of high-quality consumer focused services, with clear clinical accountability and governance through medical line management.
 
About You
We are seeking an experienced clinical leader who is registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, has Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and is an accredited member of the Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry of the RANZCP, or equivalent. You will demonstrate a high standard of medical practice and strong clinical and organisational leadership capabilities, ideally within a similar or adjacent Forensic Mental Health setting.  You will possess the capacity to work collaboratively across a multi-faceted organisational landscape and inspire your direct and indirect teams to set the highest standards in care.  Critical to your success will be your strong communication and engagement skills and your track record of successfully forging powerful relationships with staff, stakeholders, and the broader community.
