Clinical Governance & Quality Specialist
Clinical Care – Clinical Governance & Quality Unit
The Clinical Governance & Quality Specialistsupports and advises on patient safety topics including risk, clinical incident management, licencing and accreditation, infection prevention and control, consumer engagement, and document management. The Clinical Governance & Quality Specialist is a technical expert on these topics but also contributes to other quality support requirements within Icon’s Clinical Governance & Quality Unit.
Clinical Governance & Quality Specialists apply their specialist topic knowledge to strengthen and support Clinical Governance, quality systems, workplace culture, and workforce capability to enable safe person-centred healthcare in all clinical services across Icon’s national and international portfolios. This role includes the regular monitoring, evaluation and synthesis of related organisational arrangements, policies, procedures, outcomes, and reports.
The position engages in and contributes to collaboration with national and international personnel, quality teams, organisational leaders, and operational managers to assure best practice, continuous quality improvement, patient-centeredness, staff engagement, patient safety, positive patient experiences, and optimal clinical outcomes.
This position is based in our offices in South Brisbane with flexible work options. There is an impressive REM package on offer for the right candidate.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The responsibilities will be tailored to suit the candidate’s skills, but will generally include:
  • Participates prominently in the Clinical Governance of Icon’s national and international portfolio through bringing specialist technical knowledge into systems designs, plans, documents, quality committees, meetings, discussions, communications, and other forms of workforce engagement
  • Provides technical advice and action that ensures full systems functioning, remedying problems as these arise
  • Responds to adverse events guiding structured investigation and technical analysis that embodies continuous quality improvement models
  • Provides specialist knowledge in the interpretation, implementation, and maintenance of all accreditations, national quality assurance standards or regulatory standards to match external requirements
  • Provides specialist advice to reduce risks to patients, visitors, and staff in the context of any form of emergency
  • Provides specialist knowledge, advice, and support in relation to key areas such as infection prevention and control, clinical document management, and consumer engagement.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Mandatory
  • Qualifications in the specialty field or qualifications in a clinical discipline with extensive healthcare quality experience.
  • Extensive practical experience in Clinical Governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of NSQHSS, EQuIP7 or similar accreditation programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
  • Extensive practical experience in either infection prevention and control, document management, and/or consumer engagement.
  • Experience working in the cancer care healthcare sector.
  • Registration with AHPRA or similar authority.
  • Member of the Australasian Association for Quality in Health Care or similar professional organisation.
  • Research skills and experience.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and training skills.
