headspace Cairns is a welcoming safe space for young people aged between 12 and 25 providing access, support and information for a broad range of concerns, including mental health, physical/sexual health, drug and alcohol, employment and education and support for families and carers. headspace Cairns (under the direction of RFDS (Queensland) Services Limited) has been making a difference in the lives of young Australians since 2006.
The headspace team is now accepting applications for the Clinical Lead position, which is a full-time role with a maximum term until June 30, 2025 (with the opportunity of extension). The Clinical Lead will be responsible for providing Clinical Leadership and direction to the headspace Centre team, ensuring that day-to-day clinical services effectively meet the needs of young people. The role involves contributing to developing evidence-based and innovative clinical services, promoting the delivery of high-quality mental health services, and engaging in clinical and caseload reviews. Additionally, the Clinical Lead will actively manage referrals and demand for clinical services and, when required, carry a caseload. This development opportunity will see you:
- Provide Clinical Leadership, consultation and expertise to headspace clinicians and Private Practitioners
- Develop and maintain working relationships with key agencies
- Ensure all relevant data is collected to continuously evaluate service delivery
- Ensure clinical staff are appropriately oriented and provided with adequate supervision, training and professional development
- Ensure clinical review meetings occur regularly and that clinical documentation is completed appropriately
- Manage clinical resources and rosters flexibly and efficiently
- Develop and review clinical governance documents and processes and ensure compliance
- Contribute to the vision, strategic planning, and relevant policy development
Who are we looking for?
In addition to formal qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing (Mental Health), you must have demonstrated experience and advanced clinical skills in various mental health service settings. You will be focused on helping us do things ‘the headspace way’, living our values of Inclusion, Collaboration, Agility and Excellence. In addition, you will have:
- Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Current paid employee Blue Card (Social Workers Only)
- Extensive experience in complex clinical triage, assessment and referral
- Experience in service development and maintaining continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated experience in leadership of multidisciplinary teams, including the provision of clinical supervision
- Proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced clinical skills in managing young people at risk, including suicide and violence risks
