About the Role
In consultation with the Anaesthetic Department Physicians, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will ensure that this nurse-led Vascular Access Service provides a comprehensive consultation and clinical support service to all customers.
- Participate in rostered clinical roles as required
- Initiate research/audit and provide reports relating to key performance indicators
- You will lead and facilitate the education and training of medical and nursing staff across the site, providing support/expert advice on device selection and escalating processes and practice for difficult cannulation
- You will ensure that safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in conjunction with strategic and cost-effective management of service delivery
- You will participate in supporting the overall management of the facility as a senior member of the clinical management team with a constructive leadership style.
Relevant Knowledge Skills and abilities:
- A minimum of 3 years recent Vascular Access/Cannulation Service experience plus a postgraduate tertiary qualification in relevant practice area. (Achieved or working towards)
- Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in vascular access device insertion, care and maintenance. (Including use of medical equipment to assist with correct device placement)
- Problem solving, clinical audit, data analytics and strategic service development
- Effective Communication (written and verbal) within the multidisciplinary team environment
- Negotiation, conflict resolution and constructive human resource management
- Effective budget management and achievement of Strategic and Operation goals
- Demonstrated experience and advanced skills in leadership, education, and service improvement.
