The Geriatric Emergency Department Initiative (GEDI) for Metro South Health (MSH) was launched in July 2019 at the Princess Alexandra, Queen Elizabeth II, Redland and Logan Hospitals. The GEDI team work collaboratively with the older person, their caregivers, and the broader healthcare team. The GEDI model of care focuses on early assessment of frail older patients, aimed at improving clinical and disposition decision making.

About the Role
- The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of the GEDI. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides direct and indirect care as required and works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Managers, Nurse Educators and wider MSH care team to support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of the GEDI.
- This new role will work across the four MSH EDs working in close collaboration with the Metro South Patient Access Co-ordination Hub (MSH PACH), and key stakeholders such as Community Hospital Interface Program (CHIP), in the coordination and strategic leadership for GEDI nursing services across MSH to facilitate the best outcomes for the older person presenting to the MSH EDs.
- The CNC will have responsibility for ensuring the GEDI Service across MSH is evidence based and of the highest quality, meeting relevant standards and performance indicators.
