What You Will Be Doing

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 4 will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centred specialist consultancy and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

The Palliative Care Consultancy Team Clinical Nurse Consultants provide support for patients and team across all Peninsula Health sites. The service covers pain and other symptom management issues, end of life care, psycho spiritual distress and discharge planning as well as links with community Palliative Care organisations.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is a Registered Nurse responsible for clinical leadership and assisting in developing, maintaining and evaluating specialist programs within the Palliative Care Service. The role will also contribute towards an appropriately skilled workforce by providing mentoring and role modelling, particularly to junior nurses or recent recruits, demonstrating a high level of clinical skill and decision making and a commitment to high quality clinical care and continuous quality improvement.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
Hold, or be working towards a Post Graduate Qualification in Palliative Care.
• Demonstrated significant problem-solving skills that require considerable understanding and interpretation of departmental policy.
• Demonstrated experience and skills in providing complex care in a Palliative Care environment
• Demonstrated ability to provide expert clinical consultancy and dissemination of key messages across a range of key internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership with proven ability to mentor and develop the nursing workforce within a coaching framework
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of professional autonomy and independent practice.
• Advanced decision-making skills.
