Access theThe Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse (PCSN) is required to work at an advanced practice level utilising a high degree of knowledge, skill and experience in order to achieve optimal cancer outcomes and delivery of high quality and efficient cancer services. The PCSN Cancer Care Model of Care is consistent with COSA ‘Cancer Care Coordination Position Statement' (2015) and CrdrOSA ‘Model for Wellness in Cancer Survivorship' while underpinned by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice.The PCSN role articulates strongly with other malignancy-focused nurses co-located in the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS), linking with SCHHS Palliative Care Services, primary care providers and non-government organisations to ensure a strong network of support for those affected by a cancer diagnosis. The PCSN position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further development of this crucial aspect of quality care provision within the SCHHS.The SCHHS operates as a ‘hub and spoke' model with services centrally located at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and provides outreach services to Gympie and Nambour Hospitals. The PCSN, while based at the SCUH may be required to work at other facilities within the SCHHS. The PCSN may work in a range of practice environments including ambulatory settings and inpatient wards. Care may be face to face or over the telephone. An advanced level of competency with clinical skills, psychosocial care and communication is essential for the success of this position.Your key responsibilities
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
