About your opportunity

As a Clinical Nurse within PICU you will provide direct and indirect client focused clinical expertise, support, and education to nursing staff, ensuring best practice & quality care is provided.
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides critical and high dependency care for children and young people in the Townsville and North Queensland region. PICU is part of the state-wide retrieval service for children and participates in the retrieval and transfer of children to or from the Townsville University Hospital.
Skills and experience:
- Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an expert level within a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
- Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
- Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
Generous remuneration package value up to $128,435 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $104,816 to $112,236 p.a. (Full-time equivalent) (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
- Salary range of $52.86 to $56.60 p.h. (Part-time equivalent) (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Highly desirable: Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or equivalent.
- Highly desirable: Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certificate: Paediatric Life Support Certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Paediatric Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment.
- Highly Desirable: Current Adult Life Support certificate. Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster guidleine.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
