As part of the Wickham Terrace Surgical Centre team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of our practice. The 8 working hours per day are Monday to Friday only, with variable start and finish times and with one rostered day off per month. Overtime is worked as required, maybe at short notice, and by negotiation. Remuneration is above award, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
ABOUT US
Wickham Terrace Surgical Centre is a well-established Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Practice which provides high-quality surgical care to our patients. Our team is committed to excellence and patient satisfaction. We are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Surgical assistant to perform (as appropriate) and assist with:
1. Setting up, participating, and safely breaking down, in a Local Anaesthetic Operating Theatre for in- house procedures.
2. Taking Impressions and Bite records. Pouring and Trimming of models for Scanning.
3. Fabrication of Mouthguards, Splints and Special Trays
4. Application of Topical Local Anaesthetic and other Oral /Skin Medicaments.
5. Assisting with Xray procedures
6. Preparation/Fabrication/Adjustment of dental/surgical prosthetics including for surgical Implantation.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience as a Dental Technician/Hygienist/ Assistant/ Receptionist
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a small team environment
- Computer Literacy and familiarity with Genie practice management software.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Previous experience with billing Medicare, Private Health insurance, DVA and Workcover.
- Knowledge and Experience of Operating Theatre protocol.
- Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting (for accreditation at the hospitals we visit).
- Basic Life Support Certificate
- Familiarity with infection and cross-infection control
Your responsibilities will include:
- Instrument and Equipment Decontamination, Processing and Sterilisation
- Chairside and Hospital Operating Theatre Surgical Assisting
- Peri Operative Patient Preparation, Education and Follow up
- Liaison with other Healthcare Providers
- Appointment and Surgical Booking Management
- Other administrative Assistance where required
