You will be serving as a Cloud Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong emphasis on cloud-based solutions (in particular Microsoft). You will be supporting the organisation as it rapidly shifts workloads and end-user modality to cloud-based solutions aligned with Microsoft offerings and other select SaaS providers.
About the Role:
Architecture and Design:
- Champion Azure Cloud services within the organisation
- Develop, state-of-the-art technical solutions on aligned with Perpetuals service architectures while following standards and best practices
- Contribute to the development of cloud services and infrastructure policies and design patterns aligned to Perpetual security policies
- Develop automation and orchestration capabilities and contribute to the DevOps practice
- Ensure that documentation, standards and procedures are completed and adhered to for all critical cloud solutions, including Standards & Guidelines, Management Plans, System and Technical Configuration Documentation
- Work closely with other engineers and architects on technology implementation
Project delivery and technology implementation:
- Support projects to ensure that Cloud Services solutions are aligned with Cloud Services strategies, frameworks, policies and practices
- Develop automation artefacts and implement solutions aligned with services architecture
- Effectively participate in design forums to ensure solutions are implemented in accordance to designs and standards
- Develop Cloud Services artefacts for cloud environments (especially Microsoft)
- Develop and maintain Terraform, and Azure Resource Manager Templates required to deploy solutions and services
- Create reusable deployment packages that align with security, compliance, and service management policies
Service lifecycle management:
- Maintains Cloud Services technology (Inc. Azure platform) in in alignment with operational procedures including automation components, code repositories and system specifications aligned with service roadmaps and plans
- Collaborate with ITSM and DevOps SMEs to create and maintain definitions and catalogue of Cloud Services
- Identify opportunities to accelerate cloud adoption, reduce effort through automation, and improve security, stability, and consistency
- Prioritize a backlog of solutions for the solution catalogue that delivers the most value given other strategic inputs
- Provide L2/L3 support for services in scope (includes support for critical systems and major incident escalations outside business hours via on-call roster)
- Review release plans for sources of new automation opportunities
Organisation and team:
- Influence decision making through education and negotiation to realise objectives in line with roadmaps, standards and strategies
- Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders
- As part of a multi-functional team provide various Cloud Services-related activities as required
- Work closely with Cloud Services and cloud vendors
About You
- Bachelor's degree with strong academic record or similar
- Technical industry certifications in infrastructure technologies/products
- Microsoft Azure certifications
- Minimum of seven years of experience in IT roles with a minimum three years' experience in a similar role
- Proven track record and substantial experience in Azure, Systems Engineering and related technology design and implementation
- Programming proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python
- Experienced using ARM and Terraform
- Experience in connecting and securing cloud-based solutions, preferably Microsoft
- Experience liaising with Cloud Services vendors to drive outcomes for customers
- Good knowledge of technology across applications, databases, operating systems, hypervisors, storage Cloud Services and backups
- Previous experience in designing and managing Microsoft Azure, VMware & MS Windows
- Experience in working in a multi-vendor environment would be advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure information is accurate and current
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to communicate concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Exhibit excellent analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives
