Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager, and working closely with the Cloud Lead Architect, the Solution Architect will deliver, monitor, and report on multiple project activities against agreed criteria. This role provides comprehensive ICT architectures and design for enterprise ICT portfolios providing strategic direction, project management support to Clients and Project Management teams.
Responsibilities
• Manage the definition, documentation, and successful completion of multiple large-scale ICT projects in line with Queensland Health’s project management methodologies.
• Promote and ensure use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools, including benefits realisation and risk and issue management, to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered.
• Ensure system requirements are sufficiently captured and aligned to architecting of solutions that meet needs and expectations of customer and system stakeholders.
• Identify and assess impacts of applicable Queensland Health, whole of government and industry related policies, standards and other constraints that may impact architectural decision making, including funding and schedule considerations.
• Consult, negotiate and manage stakeholder engagement and ICT professionals to promote shared and consistent understanding and acceptance of proposed solution outcomes.
• Provide expert advice and communicate solution alternatives, architectural risks, issues and resulting implications.
• Manage project outcomes via agreed project management methodologies to prioritise, organise and implement resource alignment to support and deliver Solution Architecture outcomes.
• Develop comprehensive responses, briefs, submissions, presentations, and reports to guide the development and implementation of Solution Architecture.
• Promote and ensure appropriate methods and tools for Solution Architecture are adopted within the program/project including architectural trade-off analysis to support and justify architectural decisions.
• Develop and manage relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior program/project executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.
• Lead development of complex systems Solution Architectures, ensuring consistency with traceability of requirements, alignment to enterprise architecture and governance frameworks
• Ensure ‘fit for purpose’ solutions addressing business problems / needs through each of the relevant architecture domains.
• Initiative, influence and maintain relationships with and between key internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
• Develop cost estimates for Solution Architectures and designs.
• Contribute to the development of strategic plans and schedules.
Skills & experience:
• Have demonstrated experience working in large complex ICT projects, including planning, preparing, managing technical project deliverables
• High level of expertise and experience in the following technology domains to analyse, provide technical direction, standardisation, professional advice and support of enterprise ICT services in a large customer focus organisation
- Extensive experience in building and managing enterprise-scale cloud (Azure / AWS)
- Cloud Automation (CloudFormation, Lambda, DevOps, Bicep, CARML)
- Azure Active Directory
- Identity & Federation Services, including RBAC design and operationalisation.
- Microsoft Windows Server and Linux Server (OS)
- DNS / DHCP
- Cloud Connectivity (Express Route)
- Cloud Adoption Framework and Landing Zones (preferred)
• High level expertise and experience with communicating and applying cloud principles and practises in terms of scalability, resiliency, security, cost, automation, and management and monitoring.
• Have demonstrated expertise working with collaboratively with stakeholders to get results in a project environment
• Demonstrate your ability to provide sound advice and recommendations on the use of appropriate project and / or change management techniques, methodologies and tools to ensure solutions are fit for purpose
• Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members
• Have effective consultation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills for use in a complex program/project environment.
• Demonstrated high level of expertise and experience in network architectures, client/server architectures and web architectures, and understanding of service delivery and support models and their impacts within a large and complex organisation
• Demonstrated ability to communicate, at business and technical levels, complex architectural concepts, drivers and issues, in both written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated understanding of how to integrate information technology with business processes and people
