We are looking for a CNC Machine Operator to join the aiFAB team at our Dandenong South location.
The role:
Reporting to aiFAB’s Production Manager, our CNC Operators use CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, routing, milling, etc. Our CNC Operators understand the specifications of their assigned jobs and achieve the desired results by reading CAD drawings and reviewing work instructions.
Success in this role is measured by the quality and efficiency of jobs completed. Equally important is absolute commitment to safe work practices in order to protect the safety and wellness of individuals and the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Understanding of and adherence to safe work practices
- Prepare and load aluminium and parts onto the machines
- Test machines to ensure they will produce outputs according to project specifications
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with project requirements to ensure the process has been completed properly
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure optimal performance
- Program various machines, as directed
- Job documentation
- Time/cost reconciliation
- Packing aluminium orders after machining, as required by the customer
- Participate to ensure the warehouse and factories are kept clean and safe
- Other activities as directed
Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 7.00 am to 3.30 pm with 30 minutes for tea and 15 minutes for afternoon tea.
- Friday: 7.00 am to 1.00 pm with 15 minutes afternoon tea.
Essential skills and traits:
- Proven experience as a CNC operator working with aluminium extrusion
- Experience reading CAD drawings
- Ability to create own programs
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Capable of lifting metal and loading CNC machines
- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong communication skills
- Confident with MS Office programs
- Capable of working autonomously
- Ability to think and work fast under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic
- Pro-active learner
- Able to work and contribute as a team
- Valid driver’s license
An Certificate IV - CNC Programming would be an advantage, but not required.
