Company Overview
2XM is working with an established international engineering design and manufacturer in the Bankstown area. Our client produce a range of bespoke products for the Rail industry that require experienced tradespeople with a Fitting, Machining and CNC background to produce.
The company has continued to grow through the pandemic and is in a strong position to grow further into 2024. They have a strong track record of promoting from within including their current Plant & Operations Manager who started on the shop floor with the business. This is a great initial casual 3 -6 months job opportunity to join their business and grow with them over the coming years. The role is Monday to Friday, rotating shifts with permanent pathway opportunities.
The Role
As a Fitter / Machinist, you will be given the opportunity to work in multiple areas within their workshop. They are keen to keep the role interesting and give each person in the business, the opportunity to spend time in each area (Fitting, Machining and CNC) and hone their skills by doing so. The role requires you to be physically fit as you are dealing with heavy components and the role sees you moving around a lot through the day.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- You must have a Australian Certification III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or ATR Recognised.
- Knowledge of materials, speeds and feeds & good attention to detail
- Operate & programming Manual CNC Lathe machines, FANUC & Heidenhain numerical control systems simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to use high precision measuring instruments (down to X4 Microns).
- Demonstrated ability to use conventional machines
- Forklift license advantageous & overhead crane too.
- Meet tight deadlines.
- Maintain quality of product and attention to detail
- Interpret technical drawings.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Follow Job instruction and Safe Work procedures.
- Contribute suggestions towards continuous improvement.
- Attend team briefings and provide feedback to Managers.
- Previous Vertical Machine Centre (VMC) experience is highly desirable
- You will be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Overhead Crane, Forklift Ticket or EWP = desirable but not essential
- You must be able to pass a pre-employment medical & drug & alcohol test
