It's an exciting time to be joining Navantia Australia, one of Australia's leading companies in the Maritime Sustainment industry. Navantia Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for a Combat System Engineer to join the team out of its Garden Island, Sydney office. The Combat System Engineer is responsible for coordinating all contracted CS engineering and maintenance activities for the AOR program. Working collaboratively with SAAB and Raytheon to deliver the contracted services to ensure the combat system is maintained as required by the contract. Systems responsibility includes the platform integration elements of: Combat Management Systems and Sensors (e.g. Radars and surveillance systems, Tactical Data Links) Weapons and Sensor Systems (e.g. missile and gun systems, countermeasures, fire control systems, etc.) Communications Systems and Sensors (e.g. terrestrial and satellite radio systems, Intercom, telephony and switching systems, etc.) Navigation Systems and Sensors (e.g. ECDIS, Navigation Radars, Inertial Navigation and gyroscopes, etc.) Entertainment and Training Systems (e.g. Internet at Sea, Satellite TV and Entertainment systems) To be successful in the role, you will have a can-do attitude and be proactive in your approach. In this role, you will: Be responsible for managing the day to day activities of the Combat System subcontractors including interfacing with the AOR Engineering and Maintenance teams. Apply specialist Combat System knowledge to the delivery of engineering support services for the AOR Combat and Communications Systems. Undertake Technical investigations and the triage of technical issues. Undertake minor engineering change projects in conjunction with the approved subcontractors. Provide engineering support to the maintenance teams, including the development, review and update of Technical Instructions and Work Packages. Provide technical support to the supply support team on sparing & obsolescence issues. Maintain oversight of Engineering Change planning and implementation. Operate with a customer focus, ensuring safe outcomes within an environment focused on quality. Work collaboratively with the engineering team in Melbourne to support engineering activities. Work collaboratively with the Configuration Management Team to maintain the integrity of ship configuration technical data. Conduct Technical Risk Assessments and assist in updating the AOR Technical Risk Register. Conduct System Safety engineering activities. Witness System Pre-Availability and Post Availability V&V activities and provide reports. Manage and co-ordinate subcontractors and other resources undertaking Combat System activities. Support Asset Management requirements, including Life Cycle Cost investigations. Manage and coordinate the test and activation processes related to the Combat System including platform integration aspects. As the ideal candidate, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate engineering discipline. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Combat Systems engineering. Proven skills and experience in combat/communications systems integration, ship board experience highly desirable. Experience in conducting engineering investigations, analysis and reports writing. Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce reports. Knowledge of ITAR and Export Controls requirements. Good communication and team skills with a dedicated approach to meeting customer requirements. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills. Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance.
