This is potentially a 3-year contract role, based in Canberra, and working with the Department of Defence.
The initial contract period will be to 30 June 2025, with potential for 2x twelve month extensions.
Work is preferred to be done at their office in Symonston, but the DoD is also open to remote (WFH) so long as the person is willing (at their expense) to be in the office at least once a month for minimum of 3 days (and this may vary depending on project requirements at any one time).
Additionally, a current NV1 security clearance is required.
If you are comfortable and satisfy the above, please read on:
The DoD is developing a Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC), and requires an SME with knowledge of software and networking/communications in this pretty unique environment.
The core is the Land Combat System (LCS), and the key part of this role is working on a Land Integration Framework (LIF) which is focused on digital command and control, from the soldier level, on up.
You will need to have experience with some of the following (the more the better, obviously):
- Be involved with providing technical advice regarding digital integration of programs across the Defence Capability Model;
- Generate detailed technical implementation design and solution documentation for elements of the LCS;
- Work with military C4 systems and software;
- Be involved with the design, implement and assess networked systems;
- Work with distributed systems;
- Work with tactical (and strategic) networking bearers and waveforms (radio RF design, etc);
- Have experience with ‘large’ software systems;
- Have experience with autonomous military platforms, and related software/hardware integration;
- Have experience and knowledge of related standards for architecture, models and SOEs;
- Have experience with Fires Systems.
So, as above, this is a pretty unique experience set to have. We would love to see you resume if you have some/most of the above. It does not matter if it is with a foreign allied country or locally. As noted above, a current NV1 is mandatory to apply.
We will be taking applications up to 12 noon Monday 25 March.
Feel free to call Euan Mackay on 0416 140 *** if you have questions.
