We recently acquired Alinta Pilbara - an energy infrastructure business underpinned by high-quality gas power generation and renewable assets and a project pipeline of an estimated $3 billion dollars spread across the Pilbara and by a team with a track record of delivering safe and reliable operations, as well as growth. These Pilbara assets include solar and gas power generation, battery storage, and electricity and gas transmission infrastructure. This is an established business with long-term contracts and a significant development pipeline for future growth. This acquisition capitalises on our existing capabilities in energy infrastructure and positions us to be the leading independent energy solutions provider in the Pilbara.

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Commercial Advisor to join our Power Development team based in Perth. The successful candidate will be required to travel to the Pilbara asset sites as required for planned and unplanned activities.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for growing APA's business relationships with major Pilbara based mining and commercial and industrial customers. The primary purpose of the role is to provide financial and commercial analyses and advice and conduct commercial negotiation in relation to power generation development projects in the Pilbara.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate existing and new economic and financial models to assist in the optimization of power generation assets and new projects whilst managing and developing the modelling used for investment decisions
  • Provide analytical and commercially astute financial and commercial analyses to assist with effective decision making, project development and contracts
  • Understand and ensure business complies with statutory, governance and company requirements by keeping abreast of regulatory and corporate obligations, taking appropriate actions and supporting the implementation of preventative strategies
  • Support with business development activities to
  • Progress business opportunities and assist in the execution of value-add transactions connected to existing power generation contracts

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in an appropriate business or engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in the energy industry, negotiating electricity or gas contracts would be highly desirable
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to perform some financial modelling in Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to influence and negotiate
