Commercial Portfolio Manager

About the role: 

The Commercial Portfolio Manager is a key leadership role in Aurizon's Bulk Operations. Reporting to the Bulk Commercial Manager, this role will support a diverse network of operations, spanning rail, road and port logistics.  

You will be accountable for partnering with customers and operational teams to deliver strong commercial outcomes across your portfolio of customers. You will harness strong market knowledge to optimise revenue, contracts and customer relationships whilst driving business growth through identifying and securing new opportunities. 

Key responsibilities for the role include: 

• Develop and maintain active key account management planning for each customer in the portfolio. 
• Deliver the performance requirements of each contract within the customer portfolio through the rigorous contract performance management process. 
• Optimise the full value of each customer through the identification and facilitation of profitable growth. 
• Identify and develop new business opportunities. 
• Be the lead expert for all customer intelligence within the portfolio. 
• Deliver accurate and timely forecast tonnage (and supporting data) for each customer - weekly, quarterly, yearly and 18 months forecast. 
• Lead the negotiating team to secure and/or retain profitable long-term contracts. 
• Develop and/or deliver timely and accurate reports, documents and specific data as requested and/or planned. 
• Communicate customer requirements, issues and opportunities to the teams within the corridor they align. 
• Build and maintain excellent relationships across all functions in the enterprise to optimise the flow of customer information. 

About you:  

An energetic and passionate commercial lead, you will be driven to deliver customer outcomes that creates value across our diverse customer portfolio. You will be an experienced operational leader who possesses: 

• Minimum 3 years' sales and commercial experience (mandatory). 
• High level of management and leadership skills with the capacity to develop, implement and achieve goals and targets. 
• High level skills in the identification, specification and delivery of customer service in a large commercial organisation 
• Extensive knowledge of transport and logistic operations, within the relevant area and commercial activities within a large and diverse organisation 
• Solid understanding of financial analysis of haulage contracts 
• Strong interpersonal skills including negotiation, consultation, facilitation and written communication skills for use in an improvement and transfer environment. 
• Substantial skills in working effectively and collaboratively as a key contributor to a team.
