We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Procurement Contract Team Leader at our Perth CBD office, on a Full-time permanent basis.


About this role

As the Commercial Procurement Contract Team Leader you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of professionals responsible for the procurement of goods and services contracts of significant value (up to $400M), complexity and reputational impact that form part of Western Power’s network and non-network projects and programs. This key role will provide commercial leadership in ensuring the appropriate contracting arrangements are established and implemented to facilitate the delivery of large scale infrastructure projects to support Western Power’s energy transition. This position provides program management and technical leadership and direction on commercial and procurement disciplines, strategy development, sourcing, and negotiations to address commercial risk and opportunity, to derive value from each procurement across Western Power’s contractual arrangements.  This leadership role is critical to ensuring team members are clear on expectations and are accountable for the delivery of contracts that have a direct impact on Western Power’s business operations and is performed in line with the Corporate Procurement Policy and Standard and the enterprise-wide Contract Lifecycle Management Framework (CLMF), to ensure successful contract and delivery outcomes.This team has a direct impact on Western Power’s business operations by being responsible for the commercial solutions providing optimum sustainable combination of whole life costs, quality, safety, performance, and delivery security.


About you 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Degree qualified in Law or a Legal discipline, Engineering, Business or a Commercial discipline, OR trade-based qualifications coupled with significant, broad and deep Contract Management / Commercial experience of at least 15+ years.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical knowledge and experience
  • Ability to lead through pressure, ambiguity and change and to adapt to and manage different situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated people management skills with an ability to motivate and lead successful teams.
  • Interaction with others is primarily concerned with influencing, developing, and motivating people and driving positive, constructive behaviour.
  • Knowledge and experience in contract law, construction law and related legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills on high value transactions.
  • A seasoned professional with extensive technical experience in complex procurement category and sourcing management including strong negotiation skills, excellent business acumen and proven commercial and contractual risk management and analysis skills.
  • Extensive contract and commercial experience of at least 10 years.
  • A thorough knowledge of the external contracting market and contract governance and probity.
