LVN Restaurant is the new dining experience at Bird in Hand. The culmination of Bird in Hand’s dedication to art, design and excellence in cuisine and fine wine.
Bird in Hand has expanded into Tasmania, having acquired a rugged stretch of coastline in Seymour on the east coast of Tasmania.
Bordering the Douglas Apsley National Park, this folding Tasmanian landscape has a unique microclimate of growing conditions.
Bird in Hand has begun planting vines to produce exceptional quality fruit while nurturing corridors of wildlife to retain a self-regulating ecosystem.
The 400-acre property rich in dolerite soils with a smattering of ironstone combined with negligible frost conditions in spring and extended slow ripening periods in autumn, make it ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
One hundred and fifty acres of the land will be planted under vine and in other areas, vegetation will be restored, and native shrubs and flaxes will be planted preserving biodiversity.

Who we are seeking
Due to the continued success and growth of Bird in Hand we are looking to expand into Tasmania.
We are seeking an experienced Commission Sales Agent to drive our portfolio and presence forward.
The successful candidate or business will have a deep understanding of the wine industry, a significant, established network within Tasmania, island wide reach and a positive track record of exceptional customer service and sales growth.
We are open to individuals and established teams of Commission Sales Agents.
Reporting structure
This position reports directly to the Sales Manager SA/ TAS and will work closely with the General Manager of Marketing and Sales.
They will work collaboratively with Bird in Hand sales, logistics, accounts, wine maker and wider support teams.
The role
You will manage wholesale sales in Tasmania for wine and whiskey.
Success in this role will come from achieving new customers and new points of distribution across on premise and independent banner and buying groups within Tasmania.
The expectation is that the successful candidate will have reach across the majority of Tasmania.
Responsibilities include:
- Exceed sales forecasts/targets.
- Maximise margins via strategic use of discounts.
- Grow sales & availability by increasing the number of and value of the Off/ On Premise customer base.
- Ensure continual business development of existing and potential customers by proactively identifying and following up on sales and branding opportunities for all Bird in Hand products.
- Monitor market trends, competitor products, promotions and online pricing that impacts our brand and take action when needed.
- Make full use of our CRM - Opmetrix including maintaining updated primary contact details for each account.
- Participate in fortnightly sales team meetings.
- Awareness of, and accountability for, stock levels in own state warehouses and ALL state wholesalers.
- Take action to address/manage aged stock when required.
- Manage state based independent pricing in line with Bird in Hand’s price visions and strategic direction.
- Become immersed in, and represent the Bird in Hand culture, brands and its products.
Essential requirements and characteristics we are looking for are:
- A passion for the wine industry and experience in wine sales.
- Be able to converse with Sommeliers and Masters of Wine.
- A competitive, self-driven personality.
- A desire to achieve excellence and sharp attention to detail.
- An ability to work independently and navigate challenges calmly and methodically.
- Immaculate presentation and communication skills.
- A willingness to learn, grow and be part of a team.
- Honesty, integrity, empathy.
- WSET Level 2 or above.
