The role


As the Commissioning and Handover engineer, you will be the key conduit between our delivery team in Liveable Water Solutions, and our Asset Integration team in Service Delivery. The role will be responsible for leading and ensuring effective interfacing when Commissioning and Handover of assets in the water, sewer and recycled water networks.

Key accountabilities will be,

  • Coordinate and ensure there is a smooth interface between engineers, operators, maintenance personnel, field technicians, host end SCADA support teams, partners and contractors by coordinating works, projects and tasks.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary staff/contractors, pulling together project teams to solve site specific/ project specific problems.
  • Investigate and identify faults using system drawings, system architecture.
  • Work with vendors to ensure SEW are aware of current and emerging technologies and innovations that can improve our systems.
  • Provide solutions, information and on-site technical support (when required) to contractors, SCADA engineers, Telemetry Engineer and operational staff throughout the business.
  • Conduct quality audits and safety audits.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation of processes, standards, guidelines and checklists relating to asset Commissioning and Handover.
  • Work with Service Delivery - Asset Integration team to commission and Handover PLC/RTU/instrumentation and control.
  • Provide technical support and specialist advice.
  • Out of hours duty rostering as well as field work will form a part of this role.
Who are you?

To be successful, you must have,

  • An Accredited 4- year engineer degree or Engineering Technologies Working towards Professional Engineer registration in Victoria.
  • Experience in delivering and commissioning pipeline, pump stations, and facilities in the water and sewer network and relevant experience in engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance of urban water infrastructure.
  • Broad knowledge of standards and specifications, including relevant WSAA Codes
  • Working experience in developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), flow management plan, SCADA systems, automation coding (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs) and communications (modems and radios).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level understanding and knowledge of automation software, SCADA protocol software/analysers.
  • Customer Focus when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for day to day troubleshooting to detailed project designs.
  • Familiar with all forms of current and emerging communications technologies
  • Able to operate autonomously under limited supervision and direction, however also able to acknowledge key decisions to be referred to the relevant escalation point.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical designs and drawings (architectural, electrical, mechanical and civil)
  • Electrical license (A/E/ES/L/REL), Registered cabling license is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in IP networking and CCTV advantageous.
