Commissioning Engineer - CAF Rail Australia - Dubbo

We are currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer within the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre based in Dubbo. Reporting to the Commissioning department in Spain, the Commissioning Engineer manages the technical, quality and engineering related issues that may arise during the planning and execution of the testing & commissioning phase of the projects.

The position is a key interfacing role managing interactions between the client and the different internal CAF departments/functions (predominantly the Testing and Final Assembly departments).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand clients request and coordinate internal team for appropriate actions.
  • Lead the establishment of the overall success criteria for the testing & commissioning phase of the projects, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
  • Manage the integration of testing & commissioning work streams - including resolution of key interface issues.
  • Collect all the needs of external resources from the different departments involved in the testing & commissioning phase and procure or request to the customer these resources.
  • Coordinate the technical, quality and engineering related issues that arise during the testing & commissioning process.
  • Ensure the projects adhere to any logistics-oriented compliance conditions imposed upon the project.
  • Ensure personnel comply with all WHSE legislation and WHSE Company policy.
  • Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, to ensure all work and actions undertaken are always fully compliant.
  • Ensure the successful acceptance of the trains by the customer according to the project schedule.

Record keeping

  • Ensure accurate records are completed and maintained in accordance with procedures in place, and work in progress is communicated to Line Managers and team members.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure that all work carried out is compliant with health, safety and environmental legislation and Company policies and procedures.

Quality

  • Ensure all work carried out is compliant with Company quality management systems/policies and procedures.
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure, where relevant, product meets quality and safety standards

Profile

  • Pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing its objectives.
  • Participate as and when required in team and one-to-one meetings and undertake training relevant to the role.
  • Keep up to date with developments within the Company and other sector wide practices that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant external/internal factors, for example, Company policies and procedures, Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental.
  • Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the Company, its dealings, transactions, and all other information relating to clients/ customers and staff.
  • Promote the Company by whatever means are appropriate and available to ensure a positive image to customers/clients.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Company's values, and its aims and objectives, and the implementation of its Equal Opportunities policy in the workplace.

ESSENTIAL

  • Possess a tertiary qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritising and managing multiple conflicting deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to provide timely, customer-focused specialist engineering advice and support.
  • Experience with office management software e.g. MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically).

DESIRABLE

  • Have at least 2 years' experience in similar or related roles.
  • knowledge and understanding of rolling stock systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian and international rolling stock standards.
  • Experience in Commissioning engineering designs.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

The NSW Government is replacing the NSW regional rail fleet of XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour trains with 29 safer, comfortable and more accessible trains for customers travelling across NSW and between, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane. For details of the project visit:

As part of the Regional Rail project, the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre in Dubbo will receive a new talented team for train completion works (Manufacturing, Testing and Quality activities), with potential transition in the future to the Warranty & Maintenance teams.
