Medicines Australia has an exciting opportunity for Communications and Events Officer to join our high performing Communications & Stakeholder Engagement team. This role is a permanent full-time position or part-time position 30 hours per week based in Canberra, offering flexible working arrangements to meet your work/life commitments and support your wellbeing.

On behalf of our members, we advocate on policy matters ranging from patient access to medicines through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to manufacturing and supply chain matters, trade agreements and clinical trials. 

We work closely with our members to shape and influence policy outcomes and work hard to deliver member value.  

About the Role

This role sits in our Communications team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Media and Communications, and contributes to Medicines Australia’s promise to deliver an exceptional experience for our members.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced events and communications officer to join Australia’s innovative pharmaceutical industry as part of a small team and take the next step in growing your career. 

As our Communications and Events Officer, you will lead event planning and organisation for two major events that we deliver on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry: Horizon Scanning and PharmAus and coordinate our regular member events including webinars and forums.

Honing your writing and digital communication skills, you will also support our broader Stakeholder and Communications team with drafting and publishing external communication materials.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborating with external suppliers and vendors.
  • Preparing events communication including promotion, reminders and event collateral.
  • Registration management and preparing reports.
  • Coordinating e-newsletters for members and stakeholders.
  • Drafting social media posts and web content that is easy to understand and tailored to specific audiences.

About you

We are looking for a team player who is proactive, energetic and enjoys working in a fast paced environment. 

You will have:

  • Relevant experience working in events and / or communications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt to change and make a meaningful contribution to a high-performing team. 
  • Excellent coordination skills and be highly organised.

Desirable

  • experience publishing website content 
  • experience using MailChimp 
  • experience using Microsoft Forms and other apps.
