An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Communications Technician to join our high performing team. This role is accountable for planning and delivering a program of business improvements that support the ICT strategy. In addition, the Communications Technician will research and propose technical solutions to the organisation's complex communications requirements. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, dealing with stakeholders across the breadth of the organisation.The role is based in our Cooma head office and will require work in remote locations.
Key Accountabilities include:
Translate business requirements into architectures to enable delivery of appropriate solutions.
Deliver a Communications network architecture that delivers both operational and corporate services while ensuring future investment in ICT systems and processes supports business objectives.
Support architectural governance within the managed equipment lifecycle
Implement architectural enhancements including eliminating failure modes as defined by the end user
Assist with monitoring the overall reliability, capacity and performance of the Communications systems and equipment. Recommend and/or implement upgrades or improvements.
Participation in oncall roster including responding to remote site failures.
Manage individual workloads to ensure suitable coverage and availability in terms of day to day operations of the communications network
Ensure the application of the business project management practices and ensure that sound project delivery methods are applied for assigned projects
Identify opportunities to improve SHL project management procedures
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Certificate III or IV in Electronics / Radio Trades Certificate or relevant trade qualification (in communications, radio or electronics) or Certificate IV in Telecommunications Network Technology
Understanding how to use digital communications test equipment and interpret results such as antenna sweep graphs.
Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in installation, commissioning and maintenance of VHF and UHF radio equipment, Packet based microwave radio systems and associated antenna systems
Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in installation, commissioning and maintenance of optical fibre systems
Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in installation, commissioning and maintenance of Communications DC power systems (on & off grid)
Demonstrated experience in installation,commissioning and maintenance of IP Networks
Desirable CCNA certification or similar industry recognised ICT training certification
