About Valuing Children Initiative
The Valuing Children Initiative aims to inspire Australians to create a society that values all children; by supporting all children to maximise their potential; by placing children at the centre of our considerations. As a social movement approach to improving attitudes towards children, the Valuing Children Initiative works with leaders to influence the priority given to the needs of children and future generations. The Role
As the Community and Policy Specialist, your aim will be to successfully develop and manage community projects and its work of promoting the value of children. Through researching emerging trends, you will develop publications and reports as well as opportunities to educate community, government and corporate sector regarding the value of children and raising their voices and needs.
A few specifics
- Create and manage an events program of workshops, training and community engagement to be an advocate for the interests of children and a society that places children at the centre of its considerations.
- Foster and build relationships with the community that result in partnerships for the Valuing Children Initiative.
- Identified strategic and promotional priorities by engaging with diverse stakeholders across government, policy, academia, and business.
- Assist with the management of contractual engagement with corporates, government and community for the Valuing Children Initiative.
- Represent VCI at networking, policy, and community forums, using evidence-based information to promote the VCI objectives.
- Seek and engage in promotional opportunities such as talks and presentations to various community groups.
- Work well with the small VCI team to always be promoting the VCI concept and initiative.
You
- Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the National Principles on Child Safety and other child safety frameworks.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in developing Policies by researching trends and best practice.
- High level strategic and developmental skills.
- National Police Certificate and Working with Children check
