About the roleWe have a permanent opportunity for a Policy Specialist based in our Leederville office.In this role you will be responsible for coordinating strategic policy development and the provision of high quality, timely advice on Water Corporation, State and Commonwealth policy and priorities. As well as providing high level policy development support and advice and undertake complex research and analysis in relation to the development, coordination, implementation, and review for Aboriginal Employment, Reconciliation and Aboriginal Strategy. What will the role involveReview of related legislation and ensure that associated policies, guidelines and standards are appropriate and current relating to Aboriginal Strategy and Reconciliation and Aboriginal Employment.Implement effective policy development and program management by preparing and submitting high quality plans and briefs.Prepare and provide expert advice on policies, priorities, reports, trends and strategic initiatives to the Water Corporate Executive, Minister and other agencies and organisations.Conduct research and analysis on policy and strategy matters relating to Aboriginal Strategy, Aboriginal Engagement, Reconciliation and the preparation of reports, Ministerial and briefings as required.Initiate research and policy development and provide evidence-based policy analysis and specialist advice to develop high quality social policy for Aboriginal Strategy and Reconciliation and Aboriginal Employment.Influence the Program Director – Aboriginal Strategy and Reconciliation to ensure all risks are managed appropriately and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements are met. Key skills and experienceDegree level qualification in relevant fieldSubstantial knowledge and experience in the development and evaluation of government policy and programsConsiderable experience and knowledge in providing strategic policy advice.Considerable experience in internal and external stakeholder engagement and solution brokering.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including preparation of complex reports and briefing papersAdvanced knowledge of issues experienced by Aboriginal Communities in Western Australia.
