Community Capacity Building Officer

North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. The role

An exciting opportunity is now available for a dynamic Community Capacity Building Officer to join Council’s newly formed Community Resilience and Sustainability team

This role will be pivotal in engaging with community members and diverse stakeholders to foster collaboration,  build capacity, social inclusion and connect the diverse communities of North Sydney

You will undertake stakeholder engagement and facilitate partnerships to address issues, respond to identified needs, engage innovative practice and to optimise the delivery of community initiatives, early intervention and to build community resilience.  

You will engage, connect, facilitate and deliver a range of initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Build capacity within local community groups through the coordination, planning and delivery of Council’s community grants program.
  • Develop a volunteer management framework and support initiatives to engage, connect, promote and recognise the contribution of volunteers
  • Foster collaboration, social inclusion and cohesion, breaking down barriers and promoting a sense of belonging and connectedness across the diverse communities of North Sydney
  • Facilitate partnerships and explore opportunities, including with schools to build capacity, reduce social isolation and address emerging community priorities
  • Build a network of engaged and informed community members and diverse stakeholders to contribute to community resilience.

Salary Range:  $94,905 to $110,024 pa + 11% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance

35 hours per week with access to flexi-time
