ABOUT THE ROLE
The Extended Care Assistant's core purpose is to provide high quality care and support services in a accordance with the individual needs and wishes of each older person and, in doing so, to enable them to remain living at home independently. The Extended Care Assistant is to provide excellent customer service to clients and their informal carers, including family members.
- Provide Community Care services for elderly clients living in the community
- Provide domestic & nutritional support, personal care, social support, transport assistance, appointment support, medication support in consultation with the consumer.
- Provide flexible and individual support that is tailored to the consumer's preferences.
ABOUT YOU
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III in Aged, Community Care or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current driver's license
- Reliable vehicle (including valid registration with minimal 3rd Party Insurance)
- Consent to undertake the relevant Background Checks
You will have
- An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the Christian values and ethos of The Salvation Army
- Motivation to work with older people living in the community and an understanding of their needs and of consumer directed care
- Strong customer service focus and good time management skills
- Ability to work independently and safely in a client's home
- Good communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English
