About the Role

undertake objective assessment of applications for use of community land while balancing the needs of the community, the benefits that events and activities bring and Council’s good governance. 

Key duties:

  • Issue permits for the use of community land in accordance with relevant State legislation, Council’s local laws and related policies and guidelines.
  • Assess permit applications, particularly in relation to corporate and community risks, and establish any specific conditions that may be required. 
  • Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders for better outcomes regarding the use of community land. 
  • Respond to customer requests, enquiries and complaints regarding the utilisation of Council’s parks, reserves and foreshores for community events and commercial use
  • Research and analyse information in order to manage data, generate reports and undertake specific projects as required.
  • Carry out advanced business processes, including applications, financial transactions, internal and external correspondence, and data management. 

About you

  • You will have a certificate III in Business Administration/Local Government or other relevant disciplines or equivalent experience
  • You will have a current Driver’s Licence “C” Class 
  • You will demonstrate substantial relevant experience with business acumen and ability to apply legislation, policies, standards, regulations, and procedures relevant to the area of work.
  • You will have strong time management, work prioritisation and organisation skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently and interdependently to ensure work tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • You will prove to have strong communication and customer service skills with demonstrated ability to prepare standard business correspondence and use initiative and sound judgement to guide customers and resolve problems often requiring tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
