Social Change is a new team in Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and our key aim is to advocate and educate on behalf of our community with a focus on upholding the rights of our community. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Fostering a community of people with lived experience who are keen to collaborate on advocacy campaigns.
  • Engaging closely with regional teams to ensure good geographical coverage of our community touchpoints.
  • Ensuring the Client voice is embedded in everything we do within Social Change.
  • Develop a community building and engagement strategy across all GDN community stakeholder groups: Clients and their families, staff, volunteers, donors, and the broader low vision and blindness community.
  • Committed to advocate grassroots movement principles and to work closely with people with low vision or blindness.
  • Develop and deliver a program of events that commence grass-roots community building.
  • Identify mobilisation leads and case studies in each geographical area.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in community engagement or other relevant areas.
  • Experience of campaigns mobilising people that are designed to achieve change.
  • Experience in the disability sector, particularly blindness and low vision.
