About the opportunity
The Community Participation Assistant is responsible for a hands-on approach in the delivery of social support services and programs for older people. The role has a strong focus on wellness and reablement and requires a strengths based approach that promotes healthy and active ageing and builds upon people’s skills, abilities and interests. Responsibilities include:
- Provide direct support and supervision to a small pool of allocated volunteers, embedding a wellness and reablement approach to services, and undertake periodic performance reviews as directed.
- Liaise directly with the Community Participation Coordinator regarding volunteer issues, including recruitment, induction, and training and performance management.
- Support, engage and be involved with group classes and social activities and outings.
- Assist and manage group bookings and other general administration duties.
- Treat all customers, both internal and external, with courtesy, empathy, understanding and equity.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Community Services and/or Community Development field (desirable but not essential)
- A current Australian driver’s licence (essential)
- Experience working in the community services sector (essential)
- Experience coordinating, supervising and supporting volunteers (desirable)
- High self-motivation with the ability to establish credibility and deliver high quality outcomes for our community
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
You must also be willing to obtain a National Police Certificate before commencing employment as well as a functional assessment.
